The ever-popular Association event opening of the Festive Season was held on the 7th December. The morning opened with a Clay Pigeon Shoot at the Weston Lodge Shooting Ground followed by a Christmas Feast at the Windmill Inn both in Portishead.
The “Top Gun” prize this year went to Riley Drew of The Bristol Port Company, with the team from Osprey Shipping walking away with the 2023 Team Prize for the event. Runners-up with the individual scores were Tom Mounter in 2nd place also from Bristol Port, with Bristol Pilot John Barr taking 3rd place.

The winner of the 2023 Edward (Ted) Renshaw award was Rita Barnish. Rita has spent over 30 years working in shipping, mainly in Dry Cargo Chartering, Commodity Trading and Ship Sale and Purchase. She also has a wide experience in Private Aircraft Chartering and Yacht Chartering.

After becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in the early 90’s, Rita found a new interest in the educational side of shipping, becoming an ICS lecturer specialising in Ship Sale and Purchase. She has been the Lead Examiner and now the Assessor for the Institute’s Ship Sale & Purchase examination team.
